I'm making this because I just today found out about Neocities from the Youtuber Izzzyzzz. And I was excited about the idea that there's a community of people who prefer the old vibes of the internet. That they're using it to express themselves though cool retro ways such as this. With colors and gifs and shrines to fandoms. It was amazing to me. This older feel of the internet being brought back from the dead. Anyways, I'm way in. I'm Brooklyn. This is my Neocity All Things Brooklyn. And I'm gonna use it to talk about the fandoms that have shaped me the most.
So first up...
Pokemon
These aren't in any specific order, but Pokemon is the earliest fandom I can remember being a part of. The extensive world full of cool creatures was always thrilling. This goes way back to when I was a little kid. I remember playing pretend Pokemon in maybe 4th grade with my friend. I was always Ash Ketchum. I wouldn't be comfortable with that nowadays. When I was about 11, it was the Pokemon Black and White gender select screen that helped me realize I was transgender. I was not the first, and God knows I was not the last. And yeah, you bet I fantasized about being a gardevoir too. I mean, just the most feminine humanoid Pokemon there is. They're cute! And they can be either sex. (And so can Gallade) Pictured here are a few of my favorite Pokemon. Including Gardevoir, of course. There's Palkia, Alolan Ninetails, and Primarina because I got attached to them playing the card game. Alolan Raichu's design always stuck with me. And I mained Empoleon in Pokken Tournament DX.
The Legend Of Zelda
I've loved the Zelda franchise since I played Ocarina Of Time and Triforce Heroes on the 2DS. I loved the feeling of playing as a lone knight traveling the wilderness and fighting monsters. My favorite color has also always been blue. So of course I was always the Blue one in Triforce Heroes whenever I played it with my two little brothers. Man, nothing beats the feeling of playing as a color coded character with your siblings as a kid and you get to play your favorite one. Wow.
Little Big Planet
Not much to say here except this is one of the first game franchises I was ever into. The community channeled this early internet energy with Nyan Cat, Troll Face, Jeff the Killer. And it really helped me let out my creativity and develop creative skills. The circutboards were basically my first experience coding.
